2011 Cheshire Cross Country Championships

Crewe and Nantwich Athletics club had another successful day out at the Cheshire Cross Country Championships at Forest Park, Warrington on Saturday 8^th January. Over 30 runners competed, with several of the teams bringing home medals. The U11 girls got the competition off to a tremendous start, Rachel Fifer 8^th, Eve Heaword 9^th and Emily Ashman 19^th earning the girls a bronze team medal. The U11 boys included Jack Soulsby 11^th, Will Kesteven 12^th, Harry Dobberson 18^th and Jordan Sides 31^st. The boys narrowly missed out on a team medal in 4^th position. The U13 girls included Cara Gibbons in 12^th, Freya Taylor-Hatswell 18^th and Annie Huntbach 21^st. The U13 boys brought home bronze team medals with superb running by Jacob Brown 7^th, Tom Shenton 9^th, James Howell-Jones 10^th, Fred Dobberson 15^th and Matt Hole 29^th. In the U15 girls, a fantastic run from Georgia Pickles put in her in 6^th place followed by Georgie Perris-Redding 22^nd and Lauren Whittaker 23^rd. The U15 boys team placed 3^rd overall in bronze medal position with Luke Cockerton 7^th, Rob Poole 10^th and Josh Edge 16^th. In the U17 boys competition Richard Owen achieved our clubs highest position in a fantastic 5^th place, followed by Oliver Williams 19^th and Brad Smith 21^st. Chris Bennet came 7^th in the U20 mens. Our Senior men including Rob Huntbach, David Dobberson, Andy Jones and Neil Fowler all had a good run out and all placed in the top 100. Well done also to Katie Lennon and Alice Dodds who competed.

It looks like congratulations are in order for Georgia Pickles, Richard Owen, Chris Bennet and Jacob Brown who should now qualify to run for Cheshire in the English County Championships in March at Cofton Park in Birmingham.
