Young athletes from Crewe and Nantwich Athletics Club had an action packed day at the AAA Tom Pink Relays at Sportcity Manchester during the half term holidays competing against athletes from Trafford, Sale, Halton and Frodsham, Liverpool and Bury. The events included a pentathlon of sportshall events including jumps, throws and running plus an endurance test. The twenty one Crewe and Nantwich athletes gained an excellent fourteen gold, seven silver and twelve bronze awards between them. Annie Huntbach, Ella Nicholls, Eve Nickisson and Liberty Hughes all achieved double gold awards
There were also relays, in which the club gained three silvers and one bronze. Some of the clubs older athletes assisted in officiating and Team Managing on the day (Fraser Ashman, Katie Lennon, Alice Simmons and Gemma Valentine). Team managers Wendy Valentine and David Dobberson said that this was the first competition of this format that the club had entered and it had been a great success with all the athletes enjoying taking part in so many activities in one day and it was also good to see the young volunteers enjoying helping out. Primary School Age Team:- Maddie Goodman, Ella Nicholls, Eve Nickisson, Liberty Hughes, John Draper, Harry Ward, Tommy Taylor, Harry Dobberson, George Hancock, Lucy Smith, Sophie Murray and Holly Smith.
Secondary School Age Team:- Katie Chesters, Fred Dobberson, Harry Valentine, Dean Valentine, Annie Huntbach, Sophie Smith, Gaby Goodman, Ben Jones and Ellis Creighton.
